In the absence of India’s regular captain Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane’s fan following has increased tremendously after the team won the historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Australian soil. His calm demeanor and clever captaincy were discussed by many legendary players around the world, including Australian players. Rahane’s return to India by giving the team an unconvincing victory was a great welcome, with band-instruments played by his neighbors. During this time a cake was also prepared for him, in which a kangaroo was made. Rahane, after seeing the cake, refused to cut it. He has now given the reason for this.
Speaking on Facebook, cricket expert and commentator Harsha Bhogle asked him why you did not cut the cake. On this, the vice-captain of the Test team, Rahane said that he had to respect the opposition team, no matter what the result of the Test series was. Talking to Harsha Bhogle, Rahane said that Kangaroo is the national animal of the Australia team and so I refused to cut the cake. He further said that we should treat the opposition team well, whether of course we have won the series against them or created history in their country.
Always wanted to ask @ ajinkyarahane88 about the cake he was offered with a kangaroo on it and why he refused to cut it. The small things that tell you more about a person. More of this conversation on his FB page. pic.twitter.com/YZwwQKlFJq

In this conversation Harsha Bhogle also asked him if he was tired of playing the Test series against Australia, to which Rahane replied, “Yes but in good form.” India’s Test series decider Brisbane Test Rahane became the second Asian captain to win a Test series on Australian soil. Before him, this feat was done by Virat Kohli of Team India, under whose captaincy India defeated the Kangaroo team 2–1 in 2018-19 and captured the Test series.
