Voting is scheduled to take place on 6 April in Tamil Nadu. Before that, various political parties have been seen campaigning with photographs and cut-outs of Velupillai Prabhakaran, the founder of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). One thing can be said from this idea of the candidates to do the voters in their favor, that Prabhakaran’s political dominance remains even after years of death.
Shiva Raman of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), who is contesting from Thirumayam constituency in Pudukkottai district on Thursday, used photographs and cut-outs of Prabhakaran during the election campaign.
Apart from NTK, filmmaker-turned-politician Senthmizhan Seman, Rajum Sabha MP Waruko-led Marumalachi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) have also been seen campaigning with the LTTE chief’s cut-out. This series does not stop here. The Viduthalai Chiruthigal Kachi Party led by Thole and Thirumavalavan are also seen in the electoral fray with photographs of Prabhakaran.
Let us tell you that LTTE chief Prabhakaran died on 18 May 2009 in Sri Lanka. Let us tell you that Prabhakaran killed the former Prime Minister of the country, Rajiv Gandhi.
Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu will be held in a single phase on 6 April and the votes will be counted on 2 May.
