WBBPE Publishes Guidelines For Primary TET Exams: What curriculum will the primary test be? What will be the format of the question paper? How many marks to pass the exam? West Bengal Board of Primary Education has issued guidelines detailing all the necessary information regarding the primary TET 2022. This is the first time in Tate’s history that such an initiative has been taken to maintain transparency from the very beginning.

Primary Tet will be held across the state from 12 noon to 2.30 pm this year on December 11. The exam will be of 2 and half hours duration and will carry 150 marks in total. According to the guidelines published by the board, the entire examination will be based on MCQ questions. Each question is worth 1 mark. That is, there will be 150 MCQ questions for 150 marks. There will be four alternative answers for each question. Choose the correct answer from among them.

There will be 150 questions on five topics in total. Among them, 30 questions will be asked from Child Development and Pedagogy. Similarly, there will be 30 questions from the first language i.e. Bengali, Hindi, Oriya, Telugu, Nepali, Saotali, or Urdu, 30 from the second language English, 30 from Mathematics, and 30 from Environmental Science. The pattern and standard of question papers for each subject have also been informed by the board. For example, in the case of the first language, questions will be asked with a view to verifying the proficiency of the examinee in the medium of choice. A detailed syllabus for each subject is also provided. Model and sample question papers have also been given in the guidelines to create a fair idea among the examinees about how the question paper will be.

As informed by the board, no negative marking will be done in Primary TET. That is, marks will not be deducted if a question is answered incorrectly. The question papers will be in Bengali and English, these two languages. Candidates securing 60 percent or more marks in the examination will be considered to have passed the TET. There will be 5 percent relaxation in the case of reserved category candidates. That is, they will pass the TET if they get 55 percent or more marks. In all categories, the TATE certificate will be valid for a lifetime. A candidate for TATE Certificate can participate in TATE as many times as desired. A candidate who has passed TATE 2022 can participate in TATE again in the future if he wants to improve his score.

However, passing the TET does not necessarily mean getting a job. The guidelines have warned about that. It has been said that passing the TET does not entitle a candidate to get the appointment. It is one of the recruitment criteria. Besides, the examinees have been informed about some rules of the examination. As such, no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination center without a valid admit card. It is also cautioned that the Center Superintendent/Centre In-Charge should not, under any circumstances, do anything against the rules.
