The Bar Council of India (BCI) on Thursday said in the Supreme Court that the BCI rule ending one-year LLM course will not be implemented this year. BCI President Manan Kumar Mishra said that the BCI rules proposing to end the one-year LLM course be implemented from the academic session 2022-2023.
Senior Advocate Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the Consortium of National Law Universities, said that this assurance of the BCI President will allay the doubts of the universities about this academic session. The Supreme Court in the order recorded the statement of the BCI President and adjourned the hearing for four weeks. Petitions were filed by the Consortium of National Law Universities and others to order the status quo.
