To make 1-dal rasam, cook arhar dal. Sprinkle mustard, curry leaves, asafoetida, chillies, etc. in oil in a pan. Add tomatoes and cook for a minute. After melting the tomatoes, mix the lentils and cook on a low flame for 10-15 minutes. Add tamarind paste as per taste. Grind cumin, garlic, ginger, black pepper coarsely and mix them in the lentils. Add salt as per taste. If the rasam is thick, then add some more water. Heat oil or ghee in a pan for a separate blower. Add mustard, curry leaves, asafoetida, red chili tempering. Mix this prepared tempering with hot lentils and close the lid. Serve hot rasam.

Add tamarind juice and cook for a while. Mix three to four cups of water, salt, coriander-turmeric and cook on low heat. Add curry leaves. Serve.
