In half a dozen states, including Maharashtra and Kerala, corona infection cases have started to rise again. Concerned over this, the Union Health Ministry has asked states to take strict measures. Under this, it has been asked to increase RTPCR test, compulsory RTPCR test when antigen test is negative, strictness in containment zone and speed up surveillance to identify new infection.
The number of new patients has been steadily increasing for the last few days. 14264 new patients have arrived on Sunday. This number is highest after January 4. Then there were 18855 cases. With the increase in new patients, there is a trend of increasing the number of active patients. The number of active patients increased to 145634 on Sunday. There has been an increase of 2507 during the last twenty four hours. Whereas 3585 active patients had increased a day earlier.
Corona cases increased in six states According to the Health Ministry, 74% of new infections have come from Maharashtra and Kerala. Maharashtra has the highest number of 6281, 4650 in Kerala, 352 in Punjab, 257 in Madhya Pradesh, 263 in Chhattisgarh and 68 new cases in Jammu and Kashmir during the last twenty four hours. There is an increasing trend in new infections in all these six states.
Higher positivity rate in five states The ministry said that there are total five states where the weekly positivity rate is higher than the national average of 1.79 per cent. These include Andhra Pradesh, Goa and Chandigarh besides Maharashtra, Kerala. This is also a concern. These states have been asked to conduct maximum RTPCR test. If the report in the antigen test is negative then do RTPCR test. Apart from this, increase the strictness in the Containment Zone in the most affected districts and areas. Increase focus on treatment and contract tracing.
