Following the announcement of the date of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by the Election Commission of India, the ruling AIADMK is in talks with its allies over the distribution of seats. The opposition DMK is also in talks with its allies over constituency sharing.
Although the DMK-led alliance in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections was confirmed before the election, the number of seats for the coalition parties continued to be a major debate in the political arena.
Questions arose as to how many seats would be given to the Humanitarian People’s Party and the Indian Union Muslim League party in the DMK alliance. In this context, a delegation led by DMK treasurer DR Palu, including RS Bharathi, I. Periyasamy and Ponmudi, today held talks with Indian Union Muslim League party leader Khader Moideen and Humanitarian People’s Party leader Jawaharlal Nehru at Anna Arivalayam on the issue of constituency sharing.
After the talks, the DMK allotted 3 seats to the Indian Union Muslim League and 2 seats to the Humanitarian People’s Party. Following this, the leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League and the leaders of the Humanitarian People’s Party in the DMK alliance signed the alliance block allocation agreement.
Speaking to reporters after the constituency allocation talks, Indian Union Muslim League party leader Qadir Moidin said, “We have asked the DMK for 5 constituencies. We agreed to 3 blocks considering the situation. IUML We are competing in the ladder symbol. An announcement will be made soon as to which constituencies will compete. ” He said that.
Similarly, speaking to reporters after the block allocation talks, Maoist leader Jawaharlal Nehru said, “The DMK must win more seats to thwart the BJP’s conspiracy. In the DMK alliance, 2 constituencies have been allotted to Mamaka. Which blocks will be decided in the next round of talks. The competition in which symbol will be announced later.
In the 2016 assembly elections, both Mamaka and the Indian Union Muslim League met in the DMK alliance. In that election, Mamaka fought and won 5 constituencies. However, the DMK offered to give Mamaka an unwanted constituency and the constituency contested in only 4 constituencies. But, not even one place won.
Similarly, in the DMK alliance, the Indian Union Muslim League party contested 5 constituencies. However, it won only in Kadayanallur constituency.
