Patna High Court reserved its order after hearing the application filed on behalf of the father of the child who was killed in the police firing during immersion of mother Durga Murthy last year on the occasion of N assembly election in Munger, Bihar. . The father of the deceased has approached the High Court seeking a CBI inquiry into the entire incident.
On Friday, a single bench of Justice Rajiv Ranjan Prasad heard the application filed on behalf of the deceased’s father Amarnath Poddar. Alakh Alok Srivastava, a lawyer from the Supreme Court, told the court that the government had taken the matter back from the investigating police to the CID. Then CID formed SIT for this. He questioned the fairness of the state government, saying that an innocent child died in the police firing but the police are refusing to fire.
He said that the police had fired on the instructions of the then SP Lipi Singh of Munger. But the police are denying this. The petition has been filed in the Patna High Court on the directions of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has asked the High Court to complete the hearing in two months and pass the verdict. At the same time, defending the state government, Advocate General Lalit Kishore and Additional Advocate General Anjani Kumar and Government Advocate Nadeem Siraj participated in the debate. After hearing the arguments of all the parties, the court reserved its order.
