The Home Ministry told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that petrol-diesel is secretly sold on a large scale in the districts of Bihar adjoining Nepal. The reason behind this is the difference in the prices of petrol and diesel in the two countries. Because of this, 84 people have been arrested on charges of smuggling in the last six months.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai while giving a written answer to the question asked by Bihar BJP MP Sushil Modi on Wednesday said, “The Bihar government has told us that such incidents have come up in East Champaran, West Champaran and Araria districts.” . ”
He further stated in the Rajya Sabha, “84 persons have been arrested in the last six months for smuggling petrol and diesel from Nepal to Bihar, while 245 liters of petrol and 9,834 in the state to prevent smuggling of petrol and diesel from Nepal.” Liters of diesel were seized.
The written reply further states that the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), along with the Indo-Nepal Border Force, is taking effective action to investigate cross-border smuggling and other illegal activities.
