Shreyas Iyer Reaction: Indian cricket team’s middle order batsman and Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer in the Indian Premier League has reacted after being injured in the first match of the three-match ODI series against England. Iyer has promised his fans to make a strong comeback.
Let me tell you that Iyer was injured during fielding against England on March 23 in the first ODI played at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium in Pune. Actually, Iyer had to slide while stopping the ball, which caused his shoulder to slide. After this, he dropped out of the ODI series and IPL 2021.
Iyer will be able to return after four months
During the first ODI against England on Tuesday, Iyer had slipped his left shoulder bone while fielding, which he will have to undergo surgery. Due to this, he will not be able to play cricket for at least four months. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said before the second ODI, “Shreyas Iyer has come out of the bio-safe environment.”
Earlier, Iyer said that he is committed to make a strong comeback after recovering from injury. He said by tweeting, “It is said that not as big a blow as a strong comeback. I will come back soon. I am reading your messages and am overwhelmed by this love and support. My heartfelt gratitude to all.”
Iyer will not be able to play county cricket
Significantly, now Iyer will not be able to play county cricket in England. The 26-year-old batsman was signed by the English county team Lancashire for the one-day tournament. Lancashire announced on Monday the contract of Iyer for the tournament starting on 23 July.
