Mallikarjun Kharge was elected the party’s first non-Gandhi president in 24 years, defeating Shashi Tharoor with a huge majority. The Tharoor faction wrote to Congress election in-charge Madhusudan Mistry complaining of “gross irregularities” while the counting was underway at the AICC office. They bombed that there were massive irregularities in the presidential election. Shashi’s agent Salman Soz has complained to Congress Election Chairman Madhusudhan Mistry, alleging that rigging has taken place on a large scale. Also, photos and proofs regarding the irregularities have also been submitted. When party sources think that Kharge’s election is a formality, Shashi Tharoor’s complaint has become interesting. Leadership continued with Kharge at large. No wonder you have a choice between change and continuity. It is known that Tharoor asked why you want to change if you are a part of continuity.

However, Tharoor, who accepted defeat after the results, congratulated Kharge. Hoping that he will continue to guide the party, he thanked retired president Sonia Gandhi for her leadership.
