The winning hero for India was the pair of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved the target of 110 runs in just 10.1 overs. Virender Sehwag played a stormy innings of 80 off 35 balls. Sachin Tendulkar remained unbeaten after scoring 33 runs.
Bangladesh Legends scored 109 runs after winning the toss and batting first. The Indian innings began with a bang. Virender Sehwag completed his half-century in just 20 balls. While scoring the fastest half-century of this tournament, Sehwag scored 19 runs in the very first over bowled by Mohammad Rafiq. In this over, three fours and a six were hit.
After this, Sehwag also scored 10 runs in the second over bowled by Mohammad Sharif. The third over was brought by Alamgir Kabir and this time Sachin Tendulkar scored 10 runs with two fours. Both shared a 50-run partnership in four overs. After this, the two completed a partnership of 100 runs in 8.5 overs. Sehwag got his win with a six.
India legends spinners bowled well
Earlier, Bangladesh Legends got off to a good start but later India Legends nosedived and restricted them to 109 runs in 19.4 overs. Mohammad Najimuddin (49 runs, 33 balls, 8 fours, 1 six) saw the Bangladeshi batting score well in the first six overs but with the wicket of Javed Omar (12) falling on a total of 59. The Bangladeshi team lost its rhythm.
Nazimuddin was dismissed for a total of 68 and then Bangladesh lost wickets at frequent intervals. Captain Mohammad Rafique’s wicket fell at a total of 71 while Nafees Iqbal (7) was dismissed for a total of 76.
Spin bowler Pragyan Ojha bowled brilliantly for India Legends and took 2 wickets for 12 runs in four overs. Yuvraj Singh and Vinay Kumar also took two wickets. Yusuf Pathan and Manpreet Goni also got one success each.
