In Delhi, now Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) pass candidates will also be able to become primary teachers. For this, the Directorate of Education is going to change the rules for the appointment of primary assistant teachers. After this change, the primary teacher along with B.Ed Pass Secondary and Higher Secondary will also be eligible for appointment.

4000 posts of primary teachers to be filled:
Directorate of Education has started the exercise to change the rules for recruitment of primary teachers. Under this, the Directorate of Education has prepared the draft change, on which suggestions and objections have been sought till November 4. More than four thousand primary teachers are to be recruited under the format. Primary teachers are to be recruited from this. Out of this, 45 posts of primary teachers have been created in five newly opened schools of excellence.

Course after appointment:
As per the proposed changes in the rules of Directorate Recruitment process, B.Ed pass is giving candidates the right to get appointment as primary assistant teacher. Till now the states had to take special permission from the center to appoint a B.Ed pass candidate to the post of primary teacher.

NCTE Notification: The
National Teaching Council (NCTE) made a change in the eligibility rules for Primary Assistant Teacher Appointment in July 2018. Under this, a graduate and B.Ed degree with 50 per cent marks in primary teacher recruitment was considered eligible.
