A total of 825 rape cases have been reported in various police stations in Bihar from January to July this year. According to the official records of the police headquarters, 88 cases were registered in January, 105 in February, 129 in March, 82 in April, 120 in May, 152 in June and 149 in July. A total of 1450 cases of rape were registered in the year 2019.
Bihar is the first state where convicts were convicted after completing a trial in a rape case in Saurabazar police station area of Saharsa. According to sources in the police headquarters, 40 percent of the cases of rape in Bihar are related to girls below 18 years of age, in which action is taken under the Poxon Act. At the same time, 60 percent of cases are related to the age of 18 years.
