Delhi government has announced relaxation in the prescribed age limit for nursery admission. According to the new rule, 30 days relaxation can be given in the maximum and minimum age limit of the child for admission in nursery, KG and first class. However, according to the circular of Directorate of Education of Delhi, the decision to give 30 days exemption has been left to the school principal. That is, the school principal has been given the right to give a 30-day relaxation in the age limit.
The new rule will now allow 2-year-11-month-olds and 4-year-1-month-olds to take admission in the nursery.
Presently, children between three and four years get admission in nursery, children between four and five years in KG and children between five and six years in first class. This age-related rule has been decided by the Directorate of Education since 2018.
