Let me tell you that this railway bridge is likely to be completed by March this year.

Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) is constructing the Chenab bridge on 111 km long challenging route under the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. It will connect the valley to the rest of the country via railways.

According to railway officials, the Chenab bridge is being constructed 359 meters above the bottom of the Chenab river. It will be 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower (which has a height of 324 meters). The length of the Chenab bridge would be 1,315 meters with 17 spans, of which the main arch across the Chenab River would be 467 meters in length.

Earlier this month, Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said in Parliament that rapid development works were going on in the newly formed Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the last two years. He had said, “Jammu and Kashmir is developing faster in the last two years than in the last 70 years. Both the Center and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir are trying to develop the region.” MoS had claimed that all major projects are on track in Jammu and Kashmir. Obstacles in these have been removed.
