Near Puducherry, the Election Flying Corps officers confiscated 1.24 lakh rupees which a rice trader had taken in a mini auto without proper documents.

The Code of Conduct for Elections came into force immediately after the date of the Assembly elections was announced. Accordingly, an individual can carry only up to 50 thousand rupees without documents. Those carrying more than that amount are required to submit the relevant documents.

If found to be carrying cash in excess of the prescribed amount or more, precious metals including gold and silver will be confiscated immediately by the Election Flying Corps.

In this context, yesterday (March 2) the Flying Squadron led by Horticulture Officer Rajavell was engaged in an intensive vehicle inspection at the Audayappan Temple area in Munisavadi near Puducherry in Namakkal District.

Then a mini auto came through. When it was stopped and checked, it was revealed that 1.24 lakh rupees was taken with it. During the investigation, it was revealed that the person who came in the vehicle was Silambarasan (26) from Ilampillai, Salem district. When he returned to Ramanathapuram for the rice business, he was caught by the Election Flying Corps. They confiscated 1.24 lakh rupees he had taken with him. Police are also investigating the matter.
