Petrol prices rise by Rs 2.34 per liter in eight days

For eight consecutive days, prices for petrol have increased by Rs 2.34 per liter and diesel by Rs 2.57. Petrol in Rajasthan is Rs 99.87 per liter. The state that has the highest VAT on fuel in the country, Rajasthan has the highest prices of petrol and diesel. In Sriganganagar city of the state, the price of petrol rose to Rs 99.87 and diesel jumped to Rs 91.86 per liter. The price of branded petrol in Sriganganagar is Rs 102.65 per liter and the price of similar grade diesel is Rs 95.52. Central and state taxes make up 60 percent of the retail sales price for petrol and 54 percent for diesel. The central government charges Rs 32.90 on excise duty on petrol and Rs 31.80 per liter on diesel.
