Meghalaya, Assam and Bengal provided relief
After Assam, Meghalaya, now the West Bengal government has also reduced tax on petrol and diesel. The government of Assam and Meghalaya have reduced their taxes from petrol and diesel by Rs 5-5, while West Bengal has reduced one rupee. West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra said the move would give people some relief from the increase in fuel prices. Mitra said, ‘The Center receives Rs 32.90 per liter (on 20 February) as tax from petrol, while the state gets only around Rs 18.46. In case of diesel, the tax to the central government is Rs 31.80 per liter, while the state gets only about Rs 12.77.
Even today the prices have not increased
Petrol and diesel prices were continuously increasing for the last 12 days, but there was no increase in the price of oil since Sunday. There has been no increase in oil prices on Monday 22 February. According to the website of Indian Oil, petrol is being sold in Delhi at Rs 90.58 and diesel at Rs 80.97 per liter. Petrol is notout at 101.22 in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, while Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh is only 40 paisa away from its first century.

However, the price of normal petrol in Anuppur district has already crossed the Rs 100 mark. Today, 100.98 liters is being sold here. Petrol in Ajmer, Rajasthan is priced at Rs 96.78 and diesel at Rs 89.13 per liter. In Bikaner, petrol is being sold today at Rs 99.42 per liter and diesel at Rs 91.55 per liter. Apart from this, petrol in Jodhpur remains at Rs 96.97 per liter and diesel at Rs 89.32 per liter.
