Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party MP has removed his tweet expressing disrespect towards the minority Hindus after a massive protest and action was demanded and also apologized for his act.
It is noteworthy that Aamir Liaquat Hussain, National Assembly Member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, created controversy by tweeting with photo of Hindu goddess to mock the opposition leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawab. .
Hussain is a well-known TV presenter and is known as a famous religious scholar, but by his act he hit the target of the Hindu community, civil society and politicians. PTI’s representative Ramesh Kumar Vankwani from Tharparkar area of Sindh province condemned Hussain’s tweet as shameful.
“We strongly condemn this shameful act of a person who claims to be a scholar of religious matters who does not even know to respect other religions,” Pakistan Hindu Council President Vankwani tweeted.
He said, “If not immediately delete this tweet, then we have the right to demand strict action under the blasphemy law and protest all over the country. Other Hindu leader Lal Malhi from Umarkot in Sindh also condemned Hussain’s act. Ki and urged Prime Minister Khan to take cognizance of this illegal act.
Hussain later apologized to the Hindu community, deleting his tweet. He said, “I know the sense of Hindu community has been hurt. I respect all religions, this is the learning that my religion teaches. ”
