Only One King, In That Achievement Rohit Is Now Behind The King, Gayle Is Now The Target; The Goal Ahead Is Not Small, Kohli Is About To Become A Legend: After the thrilling victory in the India-Pakistan T20 match, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is racing towards a rare record.
Virat, who already holds the record for most runs scored by a non-Aussie batsman on Australian soil in T20Is, has once again broken that record. Another fact is that many Australian batsmen are behind Virat.
But in the match held on October 23, Virat has broken even bigger records after the fireworks innings. Virat holds the record of being the Indian player who has scored the most running T20 World Cups.
That record was held by Rohit Sharma before the match against Pakistan. But Virat has cut Rohit’s name and written his own name in that record book.
With this, Virat also became third on the list of batsmen who scored the most runs in the T20 World Cup. Virat, who was ranked sixth before this match, has improved three places in one go and reached the third position.
Virat has surpassed Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Sri Lankan batting legend Thilakaratne Dilshan in one go. Before today’s match, Virat had 845 runs to his name. But now Kohli has 927 runs in his name.
Dilshan in the fourth position has 897 runs and Rohit in the fifth position has 851 runs.
Virat has to overcome two legendary players. The star is ahead of Caribbean superstar Chris Gayle and Sri Lanka legend Mahela Jayawardene.
There are only 38 runs difference between Gayle and Virat who are second. Gayle has scored 965 runs and Jayawardene 1016 runs in T20 World Cup.
But what is more surprising than this is Virat’s average. The player has scored so many runs in just 22 matches. That means the player has scored runs at an average of 84.27.
Jayawardene, who is number one, has an average of 39.07, and Gayle, who is second, has an average of 34.46. They are far behind Virat in this regard.
Let’s look at another figure to make Virat’s dominance clear in terms of average.
Apart from Virat, only one person in the top 50 ranks has a 50+ average. He is in the 32nd position on the list. Australian superstar Mike Hussey is another player in the top 50 with a 50+ average. Hussey’s average is 54.62, which is 30 less than Virat’s number one.
It won’t take long for Virat to reach the top spot not only in average but also in the list of highest run scorers. If the player continues to play in the same form, Virat will be the topper of the list before the group stage is over.
