Modi Wave Waved In Gujarat, BJP Won Power For The Seventh Time In A Row: BJP has become the largest single party in the state for the seventh consecutive time after winning power for the seventh consecutive time. The latest election results indicate that the BJP is on its way to its biggest seat gain in history.

BJP has won power in Gujarat for the seventh time in a row. In 1967, the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the then political party of the RSS, established its presence by winning just one seat in the Third Legislative Assembly. The Bharatiya Jana Sangh was dominant in all three subsequent assembly elections. In 1980, a political party named BJP made its presence in the state administration. In the 6th Legislative Assembly of that time, BJP managed to win only 9 seats out of 182 assembly constituencies. Later on, we can see that the BJP is progressing step by step.

In 1985, the BJP improved its standing in the 7th Legislative Assembly, winning 11 seats. But in the next five years, the BJP emerged as the second-largest political party in the state. In 1990, when the results of the 8th assembly elections in the state came out, the BJP emerged as one of the major parties in the state. BJP won 67 out of 182 assembly constituencies. The Congress, which has ruled the state for the last six terms, came third for the first time. 1990 was also the year in which the Janata Dal came to power for the first time in the state by winning 70 seats. In the next assembly elections, in 1995, the BJP captured power in Gujarat for the first time in its history. The BJP came to power in the state by capturing 121 seats out of 182 in the ninth assembly. BJP secured power under the leadership of Keshubhai Patel, who was an RSS associate since 1940. Three years later, in 1998, when the elections were held, the BJP faced the elections under the leadership of Keshubhai Patel and retained power with 117 seats.

In 2001, Narendra Modi replaced Keshubhai Patel as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. In 2002, the state faced the eleventh assembly elections. BJP retained power for the third time with the biggest seat gain in history. Moreover, for the first time since 1967, a chief minister completed five years in the state. In the elections (July) held after the most brutal riots Gujarat has ever seen, the BJP won the highest number of seats in the state (127 seats).

Then in 2007, BJP retained power (117 seats) under the leadership of Narendra Modi in the 12th assembly elections. In 2012, in the 13th assembly elections, the BJP remained in power by winning 115 seats. In the 14th Assembly elections, the BJP won less than 100 seats (99 seats) for the first time since coming to power but retained power for the sixth time. Finally, in 2022, the BJP is repeating its victory in the 15th assembly elections. BJP has become the single-largest party in the state for the seventh time. The latest election results indicate that the BJP is on its way to its biggest seat gain in history.
