The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that polling for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 6. Following this, political parties are making preparations for it.

In the last several elections in the Thiruvannamalai district, the DMK has allotted the Polur, Kalasapakkam and Sengam constituencies to its allies. During the last 2016 assembly elections, Kalasapakkam and Seiyar constituencies were allotted to coalitions. This led to severe dissatisfaction among the party. For the past 20 years these blocks have been reduced to not seeing the DMK’s iconic Udayasuriya.

For the past few years, during the 2021 assembly elections, the DMK has promised to stand in all the 8 constituencies in the district and speak to the Udayasooriyan Uthika leadership, said EV Velu, the former minister of Thiruvannamalai South Ma Sevana.

In this context, the alliance with the allied parties, including the Congress, the CPM, the CPI, the VCK, and the DMK alliance in the 2021 Assembly elections have come to an end. Thiruvannamalai district DMK volunteers are very happy to see this.

After many years, DMK has decided to contest in 8 constituencies in Thiruvannamalai district. Udayasooriyan has not seen the symbol for a long time and the DMK in Kalasapakkam block is very happy. Many DMK workers in these constituencies had applied for seats. In this case, the party executives say, ‘Whoever the candidate is, the brothers will work hard in these constituencies.’
