Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said on Tuesday that corruption is rampant in the BJP-led municipal corporations, which is why the bodies are not able to run their hospitals properly. There is no response from the Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCD).
Delhi’s Urban Development Minister Jain had on Monday asked his department to issue a letter to the three MCDs regarding the payment of outstanding salaries to health workers at Hindu Rao and Kasturba Hospitals in North Delhi and handing over the hospitals to the administration. Doctors say that they have not received salary for several months.
Jain said that Delhi government has paid their amount to MCD. He collects a lot of taxes, but all the money goes into his pocket. There is a large scale corruption in MCD and this is the reason why they are not able to run their hospitals properly.
The Health Minister told reporters that we had already asked him to hand over the hospitals to the Delhi government. This will also save their money.
After Hindurao, doctors of Kasturba Hospital also announced strike
Let us know that amid the ongoing corona epidemic across the country, resident doctors of Kasturba Hospital, run by North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), located in Daryaganj, Delhi, have announced a week-long strike from Wednesday. Resident doctors, angry over non-payment for several months, wrote a letter to the Medical Superintendent of the hospital on Tuesday and announced to go on a week-long strike from 14 September to 20 September. This may cause health services in the capital Delhi to collapse.
Doctors say that they have not received salary since July. Health workers who have been risking their lives in this crisis of Corona epidemic have not received salary since the month of July. In such a situation, they are facing many difficulties in running a family.
It is worth noting that earlier the resident doctors and health workers of the Hindu Rao Hospital of Hindu Municipal Corporation of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) have gone on strike accusing them of not paying salaries for four months.
