The Ministry of Civil Aviation has said that the lower fare limit fixed by the government on May 21 for economy class seats of domestic flights will now apply for premium economy class seats as well. However, the higher fare limit fixed by the government for economy class seats will not apply for premium economy class seats. An October 5 order of the ministry stated this.

The civil aviation ministry had on May 21 set high and low fares for domestic passenger airlines in seven categories till 24 August. It was later extended to 24 November. Among Indian domestic carriers, only Vistara’s aircraft have premium economy class seats. Domestic flight services were restored on 25 May after a gap of about two months due to the corona virus epidemic in India
