The 27th state conference of Kerala Farmers Association will be held in Kottayam from 18th to 21st of this month. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the public meeting to be held at Tirunakkara Maidan on 21st at 4 pm. The conference has a wide range of programs like agricultural exhibition, flag and flag processions, torch relay, seminars, book fair, art programs, delegation meeting and general meeting. Organizers said the state conference is ahead of the All India Kisan Sabha’s national conference to be held in Thrissur in December.

The Pinarayi government, which has given a boost to the agricultural sector, has been actively involved in agricultural expansion, manufacturing and distribution of value-added products and ensuring support prices for agricultural products. The Kisan Sabha and its state unit, the Kerala Farmers’ Association, are growing as a center of support for all categories of farmers. The organizers said in a press conference that the state conference to be held in Kottayam is noteworthy in this context.

A book fair will be held at Kottayam old police station grounds from 16. CPM state secretary MV Govindan will inaugurate at 9.30 am. Product processions will be held on 17th. A seminar on corporate politics and Indian farmers will be held at Pala at 4 pm. Former Finance Minister Dr. Thomas Isaac will inaugurate. Prof. KI Antony (Kerala Congress M) and Vatsan Panoli (State Secretary, Kerala Farmers Association) will speak. On the 18th, the flag-flag processions will meet at the Collectorate premises at 5 pm and reach Tirunakkara. Chairman AV Russell will hoist the flag.

On the 19th, at 8 am, the torchlight procession will reach the assembly town of Tirunakkara accompanied by Lats. AIKS Secretary Hannan Mulla will inaugurate the representative conference at 10 am at KV Vijayadas Nagar, Maman Mapila Hall. At 11 o’clock”Duties in Agriculture Sector of Kerala ” S. Ramachandran Pillai will perform. State Secretary Vatsan Panoli will present the work report at 12 noon. Dr. Leaders Ashok Dhavle, EP Jayarajan, Viju Krishnan, P. Krishnaprasad, KN Balagopal, KK Ragesh, SK Preeja, M. Vijayakumar and 610 delegates will participate.

On 19th at 5 pm at Tirunakkara Maidan, the seminar on the history and present of Indian peasant struggles will be held by AIKS President Dr. Ashok Dhawle will inaugurate. Minister KN Balagopal will preside. CPI National Secretariat Member Benoy Viswam, Govt Chief Whip Dr N Jayaraj, NCP State President PC Chacko, State Planning Board Member Dr Mini Sukumar and KM Radhakrishnan will speak.

The delegation meeting will continue from 9 am on the 20th. Minister for Co-operation – Culture and Registration VN Vasavan will inaugurate the seminar on the topic – Historical Dimensions of Indian Nationalism at Tirunakkara Maidan in the evening. Former MP Adv K Sureshkurup will preside. Sunil P Ilayadam will give a presentation on the topic. Dr. PM Aarti will respond. Adv.K. Anil Kumar will speak
