According to the revised guidelines issued by the state health and family welfare department, travelers coming to Tamil Nadu by train, air or road from Kerala and Maharashtra should be home isolated for seven days. Following that they have to monitor their health for seven days. If they have a fever, cough or shortness of breath, go to a health center immediately.
Passengers entering by train, plane or road from other states must monitor themselves for 14 days. During this period, if a person has a cough, fever or shortness of breath, they should go to a health center immediately.
Anyone who shows signs of Govt-19 at the entrance will be examined and referred to a medical facility.
In the meantime, international passengers other than those on flights, London, Brazil, South Africa, Europe and the Middle East must submit a self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal (www.newdelhiairport.in). They must also upload a negative Covit-19 RT PCR report taken within 72 hours of the trip.
Among these types of passengers, those coming through sea or land ports should be subject to the same protocol. Those who do not have the facility to register online should submit the self-declaration form as soon as it reaches the concerned authorities.
Passengers are required to monitor their own health for 14 days.
International travelers arriving or departing via Tamil Nadu from the UK, Brazil, South Africa, Europe and the Middle East on flights require a self-declaration form on the Air Suvidha portal and a travel history of the last 14 days. They must also upload a negative Covit-19 RT PCR report. The test must be taken within 72 hours of departure. Uploading false information is a criminal offense.
These passengers will be checked in at the airport. If the test is negative, they will be allowed to transport. Or be instructed to isolate the home for seven days. After that another test will be conducted. If the test turns out to be positive, they will be treated according to standard health protocol.
Temperature testing at airports is mandatory for all domestic and international travelers.
The government’s announcement comes just days after Health Minister J. Radhakrishnan expressed concern over the increase in the number of Govt-19 positive in the state. He said there is public indifference as the positive rate is low. Radhakrishnan also said that the neighboring states are facing more positive numbers. He says this could happen to Tamil Nadu if the public does not follow the rules of social distance.
