Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Monday described education as the strongest unit of self-reliant India and said that the National Education Policy is based on Indian values ​​and it will live up to international norms. He was inaugurating the new campus of Punjab Central University in Bathinda through video conference.

Nishank hoped that the new education policy would not only be highly effective but also be inclusive. Union Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre, Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare, Punjab Central University Vice Chancellor Raghavendra P Tiwari were also present on the occasion.

In his address, the Education Minister while referring to the proposed reforms in the new National Education Policy for Higher Education, said that while on the one hand, a body like HECI will be constituted in the field of higher education, on the other hand the institutions should be autonomous, transparent and accountable. Will be motivated towards making.

He said that the new policy is based on Indian values ​​and it will meet international norms. This policy will be highly effective and also inclusive. It has adopted the five-I (Indian, International, Impactful, Interactive and Inclusive) formula.

Appreciation of university research:
He said, we are living in a global world in which global economy, global culture, global knowledge system, global education system and global thinking can be carried forward. The new campus of Punjab Central University is built on 500 acres, which has cost Rs 150 crore to build. The Union Minister also appreciated the research work done by the Punjab Central University.
