IND Vs ENG: When Virat Kohli told Ishant Sharma about being selected in Team India

IND Vs ENG: The third Test match between Team India and England will be played at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad Test will be the 100th match of India’s Test fast bowler Ishant Sharma’s Test career. Ishant Sharma will become the second fast bowler to play 100 Tests on behalf of India with this match. On a very special occasion, Team India captain Virat Kohli has praised Ishant Sharma fiercely. With this, Virat Kohli also remembered the days when both players started playing cricket together for Delhi.

Virat Kohli said that Ishant Sharma had the opportunity to choose limited overs cricket but he chose Test cricket. Captain Kohli said, “This is a big achievement in modern cricket. It is not easy for any fast bowler to maintain his fitness and play hundred Tests. He could have opted for limited overs cricket but it is to his credit that he did not choose.

Virat Kohli believes that Ishant Sharma had the opportunity to prolong his career by choosing limited overs cricket. But Ishant Sharma only chose to play Test cricket. Ishant played the last ODI for Team India in 2016 and the last T20 match in 2013.

Remember the old days

Virat Kohli also recalled the days of playing for the Delhi team along with Ishant Sharma. Kohli said, “I have known Ishant for years. He started playing state cricket with me. We were roommates from the very first season and played Ranji Trophy together for many years.

Virat Kohli is the person who first reported the news of Ishant Sharma being selected in Team India. He said, “When he was selected in the Indian team, he was fast asleep in the afternoon. I had to drop him from the bed and tell him that he had been selected. He could not believe it. Ishant is going to play the 100th Test and I am very happy for him.
