Indira Gandhi is going to start National Open University MSc Environmental Science course. The regional authorities of the University have started the exercise of selecting the study center for conducting courses in Uttarakhand. This will open many avenues for the mountain youth wishing to do research after doing Masters in Environmental Sciences. The course will be completed in four semesters and a fee of Rs 15 thousand has been fixed for it.
Dr. Jagdamba Prasad, Assistant Regional Director, IGNOU, said that the university is starting MSc Environmental Science course for the first time. Told that its permission has been granted. He said that it is mandatory for a student to have a BSc from a recognized university for admission in environmental science. It is said that if students are not able to get admission in other subjects of MSc then they will be able to enroll in it. Explained that according to the prescribed standards, the search for the study center is going on in the state. Dr. Prasad said that in addition to the entrance fee, the first semester students will also have to pay a registration fee of Rs 200.

First semester – Fundamental of Environmental Science and Ecology, Earth Process, Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Science Lab Course – 1
Second Semester – Sustainable Natural Resource Management, Environment Pollution – Control and Management, Environmental Science Lab Course – 2, One Elective Course
3rd Semester- Environment Legislation, Environment Health & Ecotaxology, Research Methodology for Environment Sciences, Environment Lab Course- 3, One Elective Course
IV Semester- Short Research (Dissertation) / Project, two optional courses
