Haryana MLAs can now use assembly flag on their vehicles to identify them while traveling on the roads. Assembly Speaker Gyanchand Gupta said this here on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar unveiled the flag at an event. Gyanchand Gupta said in the assembly premises here that many MLAs had said that they have to face humiliation at the toll plaza many times because they are asked to prove their identity, after that the decision has been taken.

He said that allowing MLAs to use the flag is not a VIP culture at all, the flag will bear the assembly mark and the identity of the legislator. Three years ago, the Central Government banned the use of red lights on vehicles, ending the VIP culture.

The current MLA of the Haryana Legislative Assembly i.e. the member will be able to use this flag on their vehicles which are registered in his name. If the current MLA does not have a vehicle registered in his name, the flag can be used on private or rented vehicles. If the flagged vehicle does not have an existing MLA then the flag will have to be covered with white cover.
