The world famous Maru Festival, which starts from 24 February in frontier Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, will be full of many new attractions this time. Giving information about the festival, District Collector Ashish Modi said that this time, many new attractions have been added to the Maru Festival, which will be held for the first time in the history of Jaisalmer. According to the program, on the first day of the Maru festival, on February 24, the festival will begin at 6 pm with aarti at Shri Lakshminathji Temple situated at Sonar Fort. After this, there will be a heritage walk at 6:30 pm. This walk will start from Lakshminathji temple and reach Gadisar lake via main market. Participants in the Heritage Walk will take part in SAFA and local costumes.
On the first day in the evening, a painting competition will be held in the Gadisar lake area at six o’clock. The results of the painting competition will be announced on completion of the Heritage Walk at seven o’clock in the evening at Gadisar Lake. There will be a collective Deepdan Utsav at Gadisar Lake on Wednesday evening from seven to half past seven. In this, 21 thousand lamps will be burnt and flow in water. There will be a catch-all program by Bollywood artist Kailash Khair at the Shahid Poonam Singh Stadium at 8 pm. After this, the program of traditional folk theater ‘Rimat’ by local theater artists will start at ten o’clock, which will last till dawn.
On the second day of the festival, on Thursday, at half past nine in the morning, the first pole of Sonar Durg will come out with a huge procession. It will reach Shaheed Poonam Singh Stadium via Gopa Chowk, Gandhi Chowk etc. at 10:30 pm. The procession will include well-groomed camels, participants participating in various competitions, camel riding jawans of Border Security Force (BSF), various bands, tableaux of Maumal-Mahendra etc. It will include the District Magistrate, the public representative, representatives of various institutions and organizations, the townspeople. In this, groups of folk artists will attract people by giving cultural performances at various places along the way. Ten thousand golden balloons will be released at Shaheed Poonam Singh Stadium at 10:30 am which will fill the sky of Jaisalmer with a golden aura.
After this, there will be various competition of Maru Mahotsava from 10: 45 am to 1.30 pm. These include Safa Dam, Moomal-Mahendra, Mustache Competition, Miss Moomal, Mr. Desert Competitions. On Thursday, in the day itself, Poonam Stadium will depict the sand art figures of renowned art artist Ajay Rawat (Pushkar), who show the desert folk life.
On this day, “Dine with Jaisalmer” program will be held in the city of Jaisalmer from 1:30 pm to 4pm. Under this, all the tourists will gather in front of Nachna Haveli situated in Gandhi Chowk and from there, they will come to enjoy the delicious cuisine of Asan by reaching home to the citizens of various groups to get hospitality. During this time, folk artists will enjoy beautiful performances with the melodious tones of the folk instruments at the tourist reception sites. During this program, tourists will be able to quench their curiosity by establishing direct dialogue with artists and cultural workers.
There will be ‘Jagam Jaisalmer’ activities on the Gadisar lake from 5 pm on Thursday. Under this, Gadisar lake will be illuminated with light. The Gadisar lake area will be equipped with electrical equipment to give a complete glimpse of the Rajasthani environment. In view of Maru Mahotsav, night market will be held in Gadisar area from 24 to 27 February, which will be open till 1 pm. There will be programs for food stalls, puppet shows, magic shows, polymorphic arts etc. There will be display and sale of tea-coffee, snacks, handicrafts products, embroidery, perchwork, lattice jars of Satrangi Rali, Jaisalmeri stone, curdling of curd from milk without jam, etc., at Night Bazaar.
During this time, there will be performances on pre-recorded music, folk artists in different places like Morchang, Ravana Hatha, Khadatal, Dholak. There will also be a camel ride for tourists. During this time, arrangements will also be available for tourists to be photographed in the traditional costumes of Miss Moumal and Mr. Desert. There will be a program for the Amir Band demonstration on Thursday night from seven to seven thirty. After this, the colorful performances of “Rocking Musical Night with Suryavir” by famous singer Suryavir on the specially designed floating stage at Gadisar Lake will be fascinating from 7.30 pm to 10 pm.
On the third day of the festival, on 26 February, Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, camel make up show at the Dedanagar ground, Amir band show, Shaan-e-Marudhara, Tug of war, Camel polo match, Panihari race for women, Camel tattoo show by BSF. , Kabaddi etc. will be competitors. On Friday, there will be Jashn-e-Jaasan program from 1.30 pm to 4 pm. In this, enthusiastic city dwellers across the city of Jaisalmer will display with full enthusiasm Mandana, Rangoli, paintings, musical performances, etc. During this program, the entire city will be seen expressing joy in the euphoria of the Maru Festival. There will be voluntary participation of people across the city.

On the fourth and final day of the festival, there will be a Surya Namaskar ceremony at 6:30 am on Saturday in the Khabha Fort campus to receive the rising sun.
