Police have arrested three people who allegedly cheated hundreds of people by running fake call centers in Noida and promising to get jobs in the airline.

Police said gang leader Shadab Malik (26) and his two associates – Priyanka Goswami (22) and Kumud Ranjan Kamlesh (40) have been arrested. These people used to target those who lost jobs due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.

According to the police, Shadab and Priyanka used to present themselves like Mian-Bibi and they lived in a rental apartment in Noida from where they ran a call center. The woman described herself as an officer in Air India’s HR department. The case came to light when Anvesh Dutta Gupta, a victim of his fraud, lodged a complaint of fraud in the name of a job at Palam police station in Delhi. The complainant told the police that on the pretext of getting a job in the airline, the accused duped him 71,875 rupees. Till now the police have received at least 10 complaints against the accused.

Police said that they took the help of technical surveillance to find the suspects and collected bank accounts and call records of the accused. During investigation, it was found that bank accounts and mobile numbers used for the crime were hacked on fake identities.

A senior police officer said that on the basis of cyber surveillance and information received from sources, the police arrested Shadab Malik. He was also arrested earlier by Uttarakhand Police in a similar crime.

The officer said that all the possible targets of the other suspects were raided, after which his partner Kumud Ranjan Kamlesh was stabbed from Mayur Vihar in East Delhi and Priyanka Goswami also got into police custody.
