There was a rift between Facebook and news agencies in Australia. After this, Facebook had blocked the Facebook page of the news channel, agency, newspapers. After this, the government intervened. Asked Facebook to remove the ban. Facebook also agreed to this. The social media company says it will remove the ban on Australian news pages in the coming days. News agency AFP has given this information quoting the government.
Earlier, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Friday requested Facebook to lift the ban on users in Australia and start talks with businesses that publish news. Along with this, he also warned that other countries can also follow the steps of their government to collect fees from digital companies in lieu of sharing of news.

Morrison said that he spoke to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on Thursday about the Facebook controversy. He is also talking with the leaders of Britain, Canada and France about this proposed legislation of Australia.
“Many countries are interested in what Australia is doing,” he said. So I invite Facebook to talk in a constructive way, just like Google, because they know that many Western countries can follow what Australia is going to do here.
Morrison termed Facebook’s move to stop Thursday by people in Australia from accessing and sharing the news as a threat.
Actually, on Thursday, Facebook had banned the sharing of news in Australia, showing strong attitude. The move by the social media company has led to a rift between the government, the media and powerful technology companies. The company has taken this step in retaliation against a proposed law regarding payment to media institutions (by a social media company) in exchange for news sharing on Facebook in Australia.
The House of Representatives passed a bill on Wednesday night that provided Facebook and Google with a fair compensation of news reports to Australian media companies that they feature on social media platforms. It will take the form of legislation only after it is passed in the Senate.
