Doubts are arising as to what this is a sign of. A massive earthquake hit Nepal on Wednesday (November) morning. According to the National Center for Seismology, the magnitude was 6.3 on the Richter scale. Six people lost their lives due to the earthquake. Five others were seriously injured. Houses collapsed in some parts of Nepal due to the earthquake. It is estimated that the loss of property will also be huge.
The epicenter was recorded at a distance of 21 km from Dipayal in Nepal. Before this, the officials said that there were two earthquakes on Tuesday as well. Strong earthquakes occurred in many parts of North India. Earthquake impact was felt in Delhi along with its surrounding areas like Pithoragarh, Gurugram, Lucknow, and Ghaziabad. As a result, people in those areas ran out of their houses. When all the people were in deep sleep, they got scared due to the tremors. Not knowing what was going on, people rushed out of their homes and onto the roads.
Earthquakes occurred in some places in UP, Bihar, and Manipur along with the national capital Delhi due to the massive earthquake. Tremors were felt for 20 seconds in some parts of the National Capital Region. The intensity was recorded as 1.6 on the Richter scale. This experience was also faced by the employees performing night shift duties in the offices. When the earthquake alarm sounded, employees ran from many offices. As the beds seemed to move, the local people were also panicked. They came out of houses and offices and went back inside after 10 or 15 minutes. The National Center for Seismology said that an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred in the Himalayas near Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. Officials said that tremors were felt at a depth of 5 kilometers in the interior of the earth. Although there was no loss of life or property due to the earthquake in India, there was huge destruction in Nepal.
Bureau of Indian Standards.. on the basis of scientific information received from various agencies.. has divided the whole of India into four seismic zones. Zone 5 is the most dangerous. According to scientists, there is a risk of an earthquake of magnitude 9 on the Richter scale in this region. In this zone-5. there are all the North East Indian states. Also.. parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, parts of North Bihar, Andaman, and Nicobar Islands. It is said that there is a possibility of frequent earthquakes in these areas.
And.. in Zone-4.. the whole of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Sikkim, some parts of northern UP, Indus-Ganges basin, Bihar, West Bengal, some parts of Gujarat, some parts of West Rajasthan, some parts of Maharashtra. Zone-3 includes Kerala, Goa, Lakshadweep, UP, Gujarat, West Bengal, parts of Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Odisha, AP, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka. Earthquakes are very rare here. And.. all other parts of the country.. come under zone 2. Especially.. the areas close to the Himalayas.. are in Zone 4. Therefore, it is said that there are frequent earthquakes.
Lately, earthquakes have been happening frequently in the Himalayas as well as in North India, especially in Delhi. Do any of these indicate danger? Doubt arises. It is argued that the Himalayas are the reason for this. Experts say that the biggest threat to Delhi comes from the Himalayan belt. According to the National Center for Seismology, the risk of a major earthquake in Delhi is low. However, it cannot be said for sure that this will never happen. At present, it is being warned that the biggest threat to Delhi lies in the Himalayan belt. The sounds of big earthquakes are said to be earthquakes. Looking at the recent earthquake in the Himalayas, the same seems to be true. If there is an earthquake near Nepal, tremors will be felt in the surrounding areas of Delhi.
