Nursery admission process in schools in the national capital will start from Thursday and applications can be filed by March 4. The Directorate of Education (DOE) notified the admission program last week after which there was some relief to the concerned parents.
As per the notified schedule, the application process will begin on February 18 and the last date for filing applications is March 4. The first list will be released on March 20 and if needed, the second list will be released on March 27. This entire process will be completed on 31 March. Admissions to nursery in about 1700 schools have generally started in the last week of November in Delhi.
The DOE had issued guidelines and schools were asked to submit the required information, so that the application process could begin in December. However, there was no progress on this in 2020. Delhi government officials said in December that the proposal to cancel the nursery admission process was being considered due to the closure of the schools for nine months in view of Kovid-19. The principals of the schools opposed this proposal.
A senior DOE official said, “Changes to the notified schedule will not be allowed. Each school will display the admission schedule on its notice board and website. Further, each school will ensure that the application for admission is available to all applicants by the last date of submission of the admission application. Schools were asked to notify their number of seats and admission criteria by 15 February.
