The school was sealed for seven days from Sunday after family members of a teacher at Don Bosco School in Guwahati and another teacher were found to be infected with Kovid-19. Sources said that the two teachers were going to teach in the classrooms without informing the authorities that they were infected or had come in contact with the infected person.
Kamrup Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner Vishwajit Pegu has declared the entire school campus as ‘unoccupied area’ till 27 February to prevent the spread of infection to other teachers and students. The order said that all the teachers of the school have been instructed to come to the school on Monday for an investigation related to Kovid-19.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has withdrawn the mandate of checking Kovid-19 at airports and railway stations from March 1 due to the impending decline in cases of corona virus infection. A total of 2.17 lakh cases of infection have been reported in Assam and 1,091 people have died.
