Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (IRDA) chairman Subhash Chandra Khuntia said on Friday that so far 1.28 crore people have been covered (covered) under the corona insurance policies in the country. He said that the premium collection of these policies has been more than one thousand crore rupees. During the Corona epidemic, on the instructions of the regulator IRDA, the insurance companies had introduced two insurance products named Corona Armor and Corona Guard.
5.36 lakh people got protection under Corona Guard
Apart from this, insurance companies had also announced security regarding Kovid-19. “Under the standard product Corona armor, 42 lakh people were protected,” Khuntia said, while 5.36 lakh people were protected under the Corona Guard. In all, 1.28 crore people were protected under all products related to Corona and their premium collection was more than one thousand crore rupees.

IRDA chief was addressing the annual conference of the Insurance Brokers Association of India in a virtual manner. He said that after the epidemic, there are many opportunities for brokers and insurance companies in the country. This (epidemic) has made people realize how important insurance is. He said that now more attention needs to be given to tier-2, 3 and 4 cities, because now the growth will come from these cities. Khuntia said that things are looking better now. We are happy with the government’s continuing efforts to control the epidemic.
