The third Test match between India and England is being played at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. This stadium has been rebuilt in five years at a cost of Rs 800 crore. The stadium was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind before the third Test began. With this, the controversy also arose because of the name of the stadium after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But Union Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju has defended the decision to rename the stadium.
On changing the name of the stadium, Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju said that only the name of the stadium has been changed while the name of the entire campus is still in the name of the first Home Minister of the country. He said, “The name of the campus is still in the name of Sardar Patel, the first Home Minister of the country.” Only the name of the stadium has been changed.
Let me tell you that since changing the name of this stadium, PM Modi has been on the target of poisoning. Criticizing the decision, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had raised the question that the central government is not respecting the name of Sardar Patel.
