Mumbai: Johnny Lal, who was the director of photography (DOP) of many big Bollywood films, had recently become a victim of Corona infection. In such a situation, he was undergoing home treatment and was also receiving his treatment at home. But on Wednesday, Corona positive Johnny Lal died at his home in Mumbai. Johnny had been battling the Coronas virus for the past two weeks.
Rajan Singh, secretary of the Western India Cinematographers Association (WICA), confirmed the death of Johnny Lal from Corona from ABP News. Rajan Singh said that he was taken to Cooper Hospital where doctors declared him dead before admission to the hospital.
It is notable that cinematographer Johnny Lal was the brother of well-known DOP Kabir Lal and Aamir Lal. ABP News has come to know that Johnny Lal was shooting for his next film last month in different areas of North India and then in Mumbai. It is being said that Johnny Lal fell ill during the shooting schedule of the same film in Mumbai. In such a situation, he had to leave the film in the middle. After this, cinematographer Bhai Aamir Lal completed shooting ahead of the film.
Johnny Lal did the cinematography for films like R Madhavan starrer film Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein and Tushar Kapoor starrer film Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai. R. Both Madhavan and Tusshar Kapoor have expressed their tribute in passionate words on social media expressing deep regret over the death of Johnny Lal.
Johnny apart from these two Salman Khan and Govinda starrer hit films ‘Partner’, ‘Om Jai Jagdish’, ‘Veere Ki Wedding’, ‘Kal Kisne Dekhi Hai’, ‘Jeena Just For Me’ ‘Before Marriage’, ‘Shaadi’ Cinematography was done for a number of films like No.1 ‘,’ Vellapanthi, ‘Ishkariya’, ‘Phool Ain Final’, ‘Horn Ok Please’, ‘Vaada’, ‘Lucker’, ‘Tera Vaada’, ‘Virgil Bhanupriya’.
Significantly, another brother of Johnny Lal, Badshah Lal, was also a cinematographer, who died last year due to an illness.
