Chief Minister: IT Sector Will Play An Important Role In Building A Self-Reliant Tripura In The Coming Days: The state’s IT sector will also play an important role in building a self-reliant Tripura in the coming days. Therefore Tripura government has taken many initiatives in the last 4 years for the development of IT industry. Besides, the State Government has launched Tripura IT/ITES Start-up Scheme 2019 with the aim of creating employment opportunities for IT literate youth through the growth of IT/ITES start-up industries in the state. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while inaugurating the program organized to celebrate Tripura Start-up Week at Rabindra Centenary Bhavan today.

According to him, there is a favorable environment for IT sector development in Tripura. Especially the education rate of Tripura is at a commendable place compared to other states of the country. Tripura has various public and private technical institutes including schools, colleges, central universities, medical colleges, engineering colleges, polytechnic institutes, and ITIs. As a result, the children of Tripura are making themselves skilled in the IT sector from those institutes.

Also, he added, as an area of ​​potential development in the IT sector, Tripura has an adequate uninterrupted power supply, a pollution-free environment, and direct communication with Bangladesh and other parts of the country by rail, road, and air. The Chief Minister urged the entrepreneurs to set up the IT industry in the state by making use of all these favorable conditions.

On the occasion of Tripura Start-up week celebrations, the Chief Minister inaugurated two start-up products ‘Chitrika’ and ‘Oman’ and three start-up services namely Medic App, Career Beech, and Glossel on the stage. Also, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha launched Tripura IT/ITES Policy-2022 and Tripura Venture Capital Fund on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that 50 start-ups in Tripura have so far been registered on the IT/ITES Start-up India portal. Of these, 13 start-ups have been enrolled in the Tripura IT/ITES Start-up Scheme. Financial and other assistance is also being provided to them by the Information and Technology (IT) Department.

He claimed that the state government has launched the New Generation Innovation Network project to bring all technical and educational institutions under one roof in the start-up ecosystem. The scheme has a provision of Rs 10 lakh as a one-time grant for infrastructure development and Rs 5 lakh per year to educational institutions for management. So far a total of 4 technical institutes including NIT, TIT, ICFI, and Techno India have been brought under the New Generation Innovation Network scheme.

He said that the current era is completely dependent on modern technology. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken various initiatives to build Digital India. The introduction of e-services in various fields has also reduced the harassment of common people.

Two start-ups were also given a one-time grant of Rs. Chief Minister Manik Saha handed over checks to the officials of the two start-ups.
