Cancer is the world’s worst disease. The world continues to fight against this disease that consumes every part of the body and makes a person destitute. Governments and voluntary organizations are fighting against cancer with various awareness programs. One of the programs undertaken is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many women ignore breast cancer. By the time you go to the doctor, you will be in stage 3 or 4. Their chances of survival are only 10 to 20 percent. Due to this, the number of people dying from breast cancer is increasing day by day.

According to reports, 75 percent of breast cancer patients in India are already in stage 3 or 4 of the disease. Experts say that more people are getting cancer due to changing lifestyles, eating junk food, obesity, and sedentary work style. But doctors suggest that cancer can be banished with proper awareness. It is said that 30 to 40 percent of breast cancer victims in India can be saved by performing self-examination once a month.

Dr. Safalta Bagmar, Senior Consultant, Department of Medical Oncology, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, shared many things on breast cancer… ‘Breast cancer can be cured early if detected at an early stage. Women between the ages of 30 and 30 are also at risk of breast cancer. All women over the age of 20 should perform a breast self-examination once a month to detect breast cancer early. Especially women should keep an eye on the changes in their breasts, if they notice lumps in the breast or spots on the skin, they should be alerted immediately. Also, if there is pain in the breast, one should consult the doctor immediately.’

But many women in India do not know how to do breast self-examination. Even if there are lumps in the breast they ignore them. In the last stage, they come to the doctors. So their chances of survival are only 10 to 20. Late pregnancy after age 30 or infertility increases the chances of breast cancer. Working women start working within two to three months after giving birth to a child. Such people gave milk to the child. The doctor explained that this can also be a reason for breast cancer.

Dr. Mohit Sharma, Senior Consultant & Head, Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, said about breast removal. Women become emotionally stronger with breast replacement. They get a chance to live a normal life again. “We find that women are very happy after breast reconstruction,” said Mohit Sharma.
