Karishma Rai, sister-in-law of Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, ultimately did not get a ticket from Danapur seat. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has given Ritlal a ticket from this seat. Karisma Rai joined the RJD opposing the family of her uncle and former minister Chandrika Rai.
He claimed from Parsa and Danapur seats. She was also campaigning in the Danapur area for the past one month. The party has declared its candidates on both the seats. RJD from Parsa has given ticket to Chhote Lal Rai and Danapur to Reetlal. With Ritlal’s candidature fixed, Karisma’s hopes of contesting the election this time are over.
Danapur was once the seat of Lalu, the Danapur assembly seat of Patna was
sometimes known as RJD chief Lalu Prasad. He won 1995 and year-2000 elections from here. But for the last four elections, this VIP seat in the capital Patna is in the possession of the BJP. BJP’s Asha Sinha is currently MLA from the seat. The RJD has given its symbol to Reetlal Rai from here. He has been out on bail almost a month and a half ago.
Karishma joined the party three months ago
Karishma is the granddaughter of Tej Pratap’s wife Aishwarya Rai and former Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai. He joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal three months ago. It was then believed that she will be the candidate in this election. Experts say that Tejashwi Yadav, CM of the Grand Alliance was also ready to contest them from Danapur. He also started his campaign from Danapur but eventually Ritlal’s claim was overshadowed by his hopes. Apart from Karisma, Ashok Gupta, a former DG from Danapur, was also considered a strong contender. He contested the last Lok Sabha election as an Independent. Recently, he also met RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav but eventually Ritlal succeeded in getting the party’s symbol. However, Ritlal also found the symbol under a very dramatic development. It is being told that earlier there was no consensus in the party on his name. There was also talk of giving tickets to his wife. Till late Monday night, there was a lot of confusion about this, but by Tuesday morning Ritlal finally got the party’s symbol, putting an end to all the speculations.
