The way Indian Test team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane led Team India in Australia in the absence of Virat Kohli, is being appreciated worldwide. India had a historic 2–1 win in the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia. The last decisive match of the series was played between the two teams at Brisbane’s Gaba ground in which India won thrillingly by three wickets. This was Australia’s first defeat at this ground in 32 years. During this series, Australian veteran spinner Nathan Lyon played his 100th Test match, after which Rahane gave him the signed jersey of Team India cricketers. Lion has thanked Rahane and Team India by writing a lengthy post on social media about a week after the series.

Lion wrote, ‘It was my dream to play for Australia, it was my dream to wear baggy green. I feel very proud playing a Test match for Australia. During this time I got a chance to play with some of Australia’s legendary cricketers and learn a lot from them. There will be some friends who will be my friends for life. It was a proud occasion for me to play the 100th Test match in Brisbane. We did not get the result we wanted but I will continue to learn. I aim to be a better cricketer.
