A sad news has emerged for the Indian sports world. India’s medium and long distance coach Nikolai Snasarev was found dead in his hostel room at the National Institute of Sports. Indian Athletics Federation gave information about this. The dead body of 72-year-old Snasarev of Belarus has been sent to the government hospital for post-mortem. He returned to India for the post by the end of September after a gap of two years.
AFI President Adile Sumariwala said, “He came to NIS from Bangalore for the Indian Grand Prix 3 which took place on Friday. But when he did not reach for the competition then in the evening the coaches asked about him and then his room was found closed from inside.
Cause of death not known
Sumariwala said, “When the door was broken, he was lying on his bed. He was declared dead by the Sports Authority of India doctor at NIS and the team of Sai sent his dead body to the government hospital for postmortem. We do not know the cause of his death. It will be known only after the post-mortem. ”
Snasarev was coaching 3000m steeplechase athlete Avinash Sabale and other middle and long distance runners to the campaign to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. He resigned from the Indian athletics long and mid-distance coach post in February 2019 after Sabale decided to leave him and train under the guidance of Army coach Amrish Kumar. His contract was then until the end of the Olympics, which was postponed for a year due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.
