Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has met CM Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday night, surrounded by allegations of targeting the Mumbai Police to recover Rs 100 crore. This meeting of Anil Deshmukh is considered to be important amidst the demands of constant resignation from the opposition. Earlier, speculations were being made that his resignation might be sought on behalf of Uddhav Thackeray. It is believed that in this meeting, Anil Deshmukh has put his side before the CM on the entire controversy. The meeting of the two leaders lasted for about an hour at Uddhav Thackeray’s official residence. Earlier on Tuesday evening, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had held a press conference and demanded the resignation of Anil Deshmukh and said that only this can eliminate the stains on Sharad Pawar’s reputation.
Not only this, Anil Deshmukh is facing allegations of bribery in lieu of transfer and posting of police officers. Ravi Shankar Prasad had said, ‘Home minister of Maharashtra is also taking money for transfer and posting. Have you ever heard that a minister ever takes money for his party, government and for himself. Explain that former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh has accused Anil Deshmukh of recovering Rs 100 crore a month. Parambir has alleged that Anil Deshmukh used to run the racket through Sachin Waje, a police officer arrested in the case of a suspicious car found outside Mukesh Ambani’s house.
However, amidst all the allegations and controversies, Anil Deshmukh’s party NCP has defended him. Sharad Pawar, the head of the party himself and a major leader of the coalition government, has defended him by holding press conferences for two consecutive days. Sharad Pawar, while speaking to the media on Monday, gave a kind of proof of Anil Deshmukh’s innocence and said that he was in the hospital from 5 to 15 February and was in home isolation from 16 to 27. How can he meet someone in such a situation? In fact, Parambir Singh had also alleged in his letter that Anil Deshmukh had met Sachin Vazhe in mid-February. However, regarding the investigation against Anil Deshmukh, Sharad Pawar had said that it is within the jurisdiction of the CM to take this decision.
