Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be honored by the ‘International Federation of Film Archives’ (FIAF). The actor is the first person in Indian cinema to be awarded the FIAF award for his contribution to the world of film.
Actors Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan will honor Big B on March 19 at an online event. Scorsese and Nolan have also been awarded FIAF awards.
FIAF President Frédéric Mere said in a statement that the 20th annual awards ceremony of the FIAF will be held this year. No one can be better than the biggest film star in the world to make this momentous occasion memorable… who embraced, understood and promoted film conservation for many years.
He said that by honoring Amitabh Bachchan with the prestigious FIAF award, we want to show the world how rich and diverse the film legacy is.
Bachchan was nominated by the Film Heritage Foundation, affiliated to the FIAF. At the same time, Amitabh Bachchan said in a statement that he is very honored to receive the award for what he is “fully committed” to.
Bachchan also stressed that it is important that film collections are being given importance in India. (PTI Input)
