The Uttar Pradesh government has released the merit list for the posts of 31277 assistant teachers. The counseling of these candidates will be on October 14-15. The appointment letters will be issued on 16 October. This information was given by the Minister of State for Basic Education, Dr. Satish Chandra Dwivedi. Following the Supreme Court’s directive, 31277 posts are being recruited in 69000 teacher recruitment. 

In the first phase, the candidates are being appointed on 31277 posts on the basis of merit and reservation against the vacancies of total 69000 posts, keeping the pre-allocated district and reservation intact. Dr. Dwivedi said that the provisional selection list of 31277 candidates has been uploaded on the website ( ) by Basic Education Council, Prayagraj . However, this website is not opening at the time of publishing the news.

The selected candidates are 15933 unreserved category, 8513 other backward class, 6615 scheduled caste and 216 scheduled tribe candidates. The selection and appointment will be subject to the final order passed in the Hon’ble Supreme Court. 

Recruitment to 31277 posts in place of 31661 –
Special license petition in Supreme Court Ram Sharan Maurya and others vs. State of Uttar Pradesh and others on 21 May and in Subedar Singh and others vs. State of Uttar Pradesh and others on June 9, 2020 Under this selection action is being taken. The Supreme Court ordered the recruitment of 37339 posts out of 69000 posts for Shiksha Mitras and the remaining posts. The state government issued an order on September 24 and directed to start the recruitment process for 31661 posts. But due to fewer candidates being eligible in SC category, only 31277 posts are being selected.
